Course › Level 0 — What is trading, actually?
What is trading?
Trading is buying and selling things whose price changes — currencies, gold, stocks, indices — to profit from the change.
Here's the whole idea in one line:
If you think a price will go up, you buy. If you think it will go down, you sell. If you're right, you profit. If you're wrong, you lose.
That's it. Everything else — charts, indicators, strategies — exists to help you answer one question: is the price more likely to go up or down from here?
Trading is not gambling — unless you make it gambling
A gambler bets on a feeling and risks whatever is in their pocket. A trader risks a small, fixed amount on a setup they've seen work many times before. Same buttons, completely different game. This course teaches you the second one.
What you'll be able to do by the end
- Read a price chart and know what you're looking at
- Understand risk so one bad trade can never hurt you
- Place your first practice trade with virtual money — zero risk
